"The Smart Country Inspiring Smart Cities Worldwide". VivaTech is the world’s rendezvous for startups and leaders to celebrate innovation. It’s a gathering of the world’s brightest minds, talents, and products taking place in Paris. VivaTech was able to accommodate more than 124,000 visitors over three days.
The world’s top innovation leaders were on hand. In more than 150 sessions, some 450 speakers – entrepreneurs, leading business figures, investors, academics – discussed the impact of tech on the economy and society.
May 16th, European Space Agency opened Estonian satellite data center in Tallinn
"Estonia is a growing space nation and a full member of the European Space Agency. ESTHub is a key partnership that helps ESA to use big data obtained from space to enable rapid development of technologies and make them accessible across Europe," said the director general of ESA, Jan Worner. There are several users of satellite data in Estonia already and business operators, too, have been waiting for the new data center, Urmas Kõlli, manager of the Estonian company Datel, said.
"AS Datel uses remote sensing data collected by the Sentinel-1 satellite and disseminated via ESTHub, among others, in the new service directed to the global market titled Sille. Via ESTHub we can get data about Estonia and the nearby region especially fast, which enables us to offer a service of particularly high quality," Kõlli said.

This April 17th Datel’s Early Warning System, Sille, won the Estonian IT Association (ITL) Private Sector Act of the Year award, 2018.
Sille gives you the power to see structural and surface deformation of any site on the planet, since 2014, from your browser. "The service, based on satellite data, helps prevent accidents caused by the disintegration of infrastructure, and its uses are very wide," explained ITL President Ivo Suursoo.
